Car Insurance GMC (Car Insurance). when im at a stop light, my engine kinda tumbles then settles down then tumbles, repeatedly?when im at a stop light, my engine kinda tumbles then settles down then tumbles, repeatedly? do i need to change my oil or what could be wrong? its a 94 Honda Accord, i hope u can understand what i meant, i turn the radio down at a red light then i can hear..... *rooom**silence**rooom!**silence*..i can feel the car vibrate too kinda hard if the oil does need to be changed can i do it myself as im really low on money? if its not the oil what can be wrong? the problem you are having is not oil related. normally what you are describing is down to a vacuum leak somewhere in the system. the hondas have different vacuum lines for different things and it is possible one of them popped of for whatever reason. open the bonnet and have the engine running, listen for any kind of whistling noise, more often than not you will see one of the small vacuum lines is disconnected or broken if the lines are old and brittle. vacuum line is cheap so it shouldnt be a big repair if it is one of the lines. another problem it may be is a vacuum leak between one of the gasket areas (intake manifold to head is most common) to check this grab a can of wd40 or brake cleaner and spray it lightly along the manifold sealing area with the car running. if the idle evens out when you hit a certain area you have just found your leak. this one wont be so cheap though as it will require removing the manifold and at a minimum replacing the gasket and the slim possibility of having to replace the manifolr itself if it has corroded or cracked. best of luck Your Honda has an idle control valve on it. I think it is some what regulated by temperature. Its been some time since I've dealt with that problem. Call your local Honda dealer and speak with the service manager. Explain your cars' symptoms to him or her. Most shops will try and give you some advice even though they primarily will want you to bring it in for a check. The phone call is free so it doesn't hurt to try.Good luck. Auto parts : Lens Repair Kit Acura 1995 . Light Bar Alfa Romeo 1996 . Light Bar Mounting Kit Audi 1997 . Light Guard BMW 1998 . GMC . How to Change the Air Filter on a 1992 Nissan 300ZThe 1992 Nissan 300ZX is a performance car made for speed and handling. The air filters in the car are crucial to the performance because they prevent debris and sediment from getting into the engine from the air intake. When pulling the filter out, always clean out the dust and debris from the filter housing so the new filter can start fresh. Difficulty:Moderately Easy Instructions Things You'll Need Socket wrench Socket set Phillips head screwdriver Step by Step : 1 Open the hood for access to the air filter housing. Locate the center panel. 2 Unbolt the center panel with a socket wrench. The panel is secured by two 10mm bolts. This will expose the air filter housing. 3 Undo the two clips holding the air filter housing cover to the housing. Unscrew the three screws with a Phillips head screwdriver. This will expose the air filter, depending on the engine (the twin turbo has two air filters). 4 Pull the filter or filters out and replace with the new filter or filters. 5 Bolt the cover back on to the assembly with a Phillips head screwdriver. Tighten the spring clips by hand to secure the air filter housing. 6 Bolt the center panel over the engine with a socket wrench. Close the hood. Tips & Warnings Nissan air filters can be purchased at auto parts stores and dealerships, or online. Give the engine time to cool down before servicing the air filter.
GMC . How to Prep a Jeep for a BabyGetting ready for the new arrival of a baby takes a lot of planning and preparation. One area that needs to be addressed is the safety and security of a vehicle. Getting a Jeep prepped for a baby takes time and attention to detail. Understanding that the vehicle will be the way the baby comes home from the hospital makes it all the more important to get the Jeep ready as soon as possible. Difficulty:Moderate Instructions Things You'll Need Owners manual Vacuum and cleaning supplies Jeep maintenance history Step by Step : 1 Service the Jeep thoroughly at an authorized service center. Pay close attention to work that may need doing or is suggested involving brakes, transmission and heating and air conditioning. Get air filters changed in the vehicle and have the oil changed if it is close to the time it is routinely due. 2 Get new brakes or tires if requested or suggested by the service center. Check with the Jeep authorized mechanic to get recommendations on all items needed. Order items and immediately schedule a subsequent appointment to have all work performed. 3 Clean the vehicle thoroughly. Vacuum the entire interior or the vehicle and clean all inside hard surfaces with a Jeep vehicle approved cleaner. Ask your Jeep dealer or service center for guidelines and recommendations for products if you are unsure. Use a professional car detail service if your Jeep requires deep cleaning. 4 Buy an infant car seat. Take the seat and Jeep directly to your dealer. If you purchased the vehicle used, go to an authorized Jeep service center or local dealer specializing in Jeeps. Have a technician or trained car seat safety installer walk you through the steps to properly install your particular car seat model. Pay attention to instructions about tethering the car seat into the Jeep and how the car seat both is installed and removed. Tips & Warnings Purchase an infant car seat well in advance of the baby being born to make sure that it fits properly in your Jeep. Keep the Jeep in proper working order and keep the vehicle clean. Do not allow dirt, smoke or debris to linger or build up in the vehicle. *Rear coil springs have rubber bushings to cushion Control arm bushings (lower) them. u* Torsion bars: These are a popular type of spring used on the fronts of many sport-utility vehicles and trucks. They usually run parallel to the frame and are attached to the control arm at one end and the cross member at the other end (see Figure 16-9). Torsion bar springs require no lubrication. Most are adjustable, meaning that if your vehicle is sitting too high or low, you can make an adjustment by turning an adjusting bolt. *<* Air springs: These are filled with the right amount of compressed air to control the ride and maintain the proper height. A computer monitors the ride height and signals an on-board air compressor to pump more air into the air springs whenever weight is added to the vehicle. When the weight is removed, the computer turns on an exhaust solenoid to let air out of the air springs (see Figure 16-10). Usually, there's nothing to lubricate with air springs. But check with the dealer to find out whether it's okay to apply a rubber conditioner to the air bags to prevent them from wearing out prematurely. Taking care of the stabilizers Stabilizers keep the passenger part of the vehicle from swaying and lurching on sharp curves and turns and when the wheels are traveling over uneven ground (a better solution than the legendary mountain goat that had shorter legs on one side than on the other for traveling along slopes!). There are various kinds of stabilizers, but all you need to know is that you can lubricate the rubber parts yourself. Chapter 16: Lubrication Extends the Life of Your Vehicle 784

Lincoln MKS. * work. 2 CA Part III: Keeping Your Car in Good Condition, System by System Dealing urith shocks and struts Located near each wheel, shock absorbers do most of the work of protecting the passenger compartment from bumps. Chapter 11 provides details about shock absorbers that are worth reviewing before you read this section. Many vehicles are equipped with MacPherson strut suspension instead of conventional shocks. This simplified and improved system takes up less space and Is well worth having. The downside is that because MacPherson struts are surrounded by, and assembled with, the suspension springs, they're always under spring pressure and therefore must be replaced professionally. You may be taking your life in your hands if you tamper with them. (Chapter 11 has information and illustrations of MacPherson and other strut systems.) You can tell whether your vehicle needs new shock absorbers by leaning heavily on a fender or placing your weight on a bumper and then releasing it suddenly, watching to see whether the vehicle returns slowly to its original position. If it continues to bob up and down, you need new shocks. Another way is to stop fairly short. If your car dips up and down a couple of times before coming to rest, you need new shocks. Bad shock absorbers increase tire wear and can cause you to lose control of the steering if you go over bumps and dips at high speeds. If any of these things seems to be happening to you, have your shocks replaced. Although replacing standard shock absorbers isn't hard, the job can be brutal if you have to jack up your vehicle and crawl under it. Unless you can replace them under supervision on the lift at an auto class, I strongly recommend having a professional do it for you. To save money, buy the shocks yourself and pay a professional to install them. The store will know what type of suspension system your vehicle has and what kind of shocks it needs. Within limits, you do have a choice: "Heavyduty" shocks provide a slightly harder ride; other shocks may not do as well with the entire family and two Great Danes in the car, but give a softer ride. Some shocks even provide automatic level control for vehicles that carry loads ranging from very heavy to almost weightless. Suit yourself. Chapter 17 GMC .
